# Thaw and Tell > Thaw and Tell reads a short personal log of cold-finger colour changes - the times fingers went pale, sometimes blue, then flushed red as they warmed. You write one line per episode and say whether it began before or after age 30. The page tallies colours, minutes, fingers and settings on a hand picture, checks for warning signs, and sets a verdict by a fixed order. One metered run reads the pattern. It is a log reader, not medical advice, and it never names a condition. ## What it is for - Seeing, for free, how often your fingers went pale, blue or red, for how long, and which fingers. - Finding what tends to set the episodes off (cold things held, wet hands, vibration, stress, a warm-to-cold change, cold air) and what your own notes say brought the colour back. - Getting three gentle warm-up moves aimed at those settings, and a plain note for a doctor when the log shows a reason to see one. ## How it works 1. You write the log, one episode per line (2 to 12 lines, each up to 220 characters): where you were, which fingers, the colours, how many minutes, anything that helped. You pick when it began: before 30, at 30 or later, or not sure. 2. The page numbers the lines E1, E2 and so on, reads each for colours, the first minutes or hours, fingers, one hand only, six kinds of setting and warning signs, and draws the hand: each fingertip carries pale, blue and red bands sized by how often each colour turns up in the episodes naming that finger, beside one tile per episode. 3. The page's check, first match wins: a sore, broken or darkened skin, or an episode of two hours or more - see a doctor soon; otherwise one hand only, or a start at 30 or later - mention it to a doctor; otherwise - a warm-up plan. 4. A metered run (task id `read-thaw`, model gpt-terra) returns: a plain reading with the episode count, 1 to 3 settings with episode ids (each episode under the first setting in its tally, most episodes first), what the log says helped (quoted), exactly three warm-up moves, a doctor's note when the check calls for one, and a closing line. 5. The page re-checks the reply: the verdict, the grouping, every quoted phrase against its cited line, the number of moves, the doctor's note, and stray numbers, number words, pronouns, diagnosis words, medicines and risky warming tips. ## Safety Warm numb fingers gently - lukewarm water, under the arms, swinging the arms. Never hot water or direct heat on skin you cannot feel. Skin that breaks, darkens or will not heal, fingers that stay pale or blue for hours, or changes in one hand only need a doctor promptly. This tool reads your own words; it does not diagnose. ## Free and paid The tally, the hand picture, the check, the three samples and the downloads (Markdown, CSV, JSON, SVG, PNG) are free and run in the browser. Each reading is metered per run and needs a SkillSafe sign-in; the price is shown before you run. ## API - Docs: https://thaw-and-tell.skillsafe.ai/api.html - one task, `read-thaw`, with worked examples for every verdict in eight languages. - Base URL: https://api.skillsafe.ai/v1/app-api ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skill @huifer/health-trend-analyzer (MIT): https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@huifer/health-trend-analyzer
